A LOVE STORY ABOUT THE WORLD’S HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
Vintage First Edition 1976 paperback (December, 1976) of the novelization of the original “Rocky”, written by Julia Sorel, based on Sylvester Stallone’s screenplay.
This paperback features the novel’s original cover, based directly on the “Rocky” movie poster featuring the silhouetted image of Rocky and Adrian holding hands. Later editions used the color photo of Rocky and Adrian which appears on the back cover of this edition.
The “Rocky” series novels, which borrow heavily from the production-used scripts from the movies, offer some cool insights into scenes that ultimately did not make the final cut. Little details like Adrian and Paulie’s original last name – Klein – and the name of Adrian’s pet shop – Animal Town Pet Shop, are just some of the interesting bits in this novel. Variations on scenes, like Rocky and Adrian’s first date at the ice skating rink, which includes additional dialogue as well as fellow skaters in the rink, as well as an alternative and much more vulgar turn of Little Marie’s famous “Screw you, creepo” line are revealed.
118-page paperback book from Ballantine Books is in used condition, much wear and creasing to front and back covers.
